I'm so pale that my legs show these purple spots around them. It's grossly pale.

I don't tan, I just burn.

And the spray on tan/mist thing just doesn't work. It rubs off and it's hardly worth the money.

Does anyone have any advice or ideas on why I might be like this? My dad is fair skinned, but no where near as bad as me. My mom is very tan skinned. And both of my brothers are fairly tan as well.

Is there any way to add color to my skin?

I've got the same skin tone, and my brothers are actually darker skinned. I'm the only fair skinned sibling. I have had a lot of success with self tanning lotions. The one I love is by Origins and it last for days. The more you put on (1 application per day) the tanner you get.

Try Origins Great Pretender, it's not a wierd orange color, but a nice warm, healthy glow. You can put Great Pretender everywhere, arms, legs, etc. I tend to use it for my legs, and something a little lighter, like Olay, for my arms.

For my face, I love Bare Escentual Bare Minerals. They have a bronzer that looks very natural and it adds a lot of color to my face, neck & chest.

In addition, Lancome makes a gel bronzer for the face, and it lasts for days, too. It's called Soleil Flash Bronzer.

Finally, Olay makes a great all over body moisturizer with a hint of color, it's called Touch of Sun. Again, none of these products wash off the same day. The more you apply, the longer they last. Check out Olay's Moisturizer with a hint of color. You can rub this on your arms, torso, legs, etc.
