I'm 22 yrs old & trying to do everything I can to help my mother. My father died of a massive heart attack in May of this year at age 48. He didn't have any life insurance & mom can't recieve any of his retirement until age 53. She has had cancer of the lungs and skin in the past few years, had half of her lung removed due to it, she's had several heart problems & takes at least 7 different types of medication just to feel some what normal. She hasn't worked in 10 yrs due to her health & was denied disability because she hadn't worked & b/c she is still able to walk. Mom just started working a job for home depot and everyday she comes home, I can see the wear in her face, recently caught her nearly falling over because her knees would give out. I don't know what else to do. I tried college but was denied funds b/c (even though he passed away) my father made too much money. I work full time for the state & have barely enough to make ends meet. I just need some advice, other options.

I need to help my mother, my father passed away in May. She's 47 and has bad health, how can I help her????

My deepest condolences to you and your mom.....

I know for a fact, you need to make an appeal to get your mom on disability. It is perseverance that will need to be used. SSI is bound to deny the first application....You can go to legal aid to get some advise. Start getting some doctors to support your case for her disability. Keep applying until you have exhausted the appeal process.
