Where do fair skinned dark ..

We were having a discussion in class about how African Americans all have dark skin and dark eyes because they originate from the equator where it is extremely hot and sunny so the pigments are darker. As you branch out towards the poles, the light is dimmer and it gets colder so that is where very light skinned and light eyed people originated. So how is it that some of us (like myself) ended up with DARK brown eyes and extremely light skin? I understand the process of passing on traits and such but it just seems like we should either have either A) both dark skin AND dark eyes or B) both light skin AND blue/green eyes. I never see any African Americans with blue/green eyes so how is it that a white person can end up with extremely dark eyes?

The way i understand it is that dark eyes are a dominant trait and will overshadow the genes for lighter colored eyes. For example if you have one parent with brown eyes and one with bllue, the child will most likely have brown eyes.

Actual there are African Americans or Darker skinned people [because blacks aren鈥檛 the only dark skinned people, folk from India, Aboriginals can all be very dark] who have blue or green eyes, though its not common.
