What are the relevant processes involved in the chloroplast? The main function of chloroplast is to absorb sunlight in order for photosythesis to take place. The chloroplast consists of many thylakoids that contain a photosynthetic pigment called chlorophyll. The photons from the light react with this chlorophyll in the chloroplast to give rise to photosynthesis.
Hope that helps!
