Camn anybody help me find answers to these questions?
1. why is kidney infarction wedge-shaped?
2. Why is hemosiderin called the "heart-failure cells"?
3. What are examples of wear and tear pigments and why are they called as such?
Science Questions that desperately need an answer?1. Renal infarcts on CT appear as a wedge shaped, cortically based, hypodense area...triangular shaped with the widest point at the cortex(base of the infarct).
2. Hemosiderin laden macrophages are referred to as "heart failure cells" due to their occurrence in the lungs during certain heart disorders.
3. Lipofuscin is an insoluble pigment which represents the indigestible residue of autophagocytic vacuoles within cells formed during aging or atrophy. It is a yellowish-brown pigment that collects in more permanent cells (heart, liver and neurons) of older persons.
