Question about photosynthesis?

I did an experiement on pigments on a leaf. How do i know if there is chlorophyll in my sample that i collected? How can I tell if there is any or not?
Question about photosynthesis?Like everyone has said here, chlorophyll pigments are typically green but there can be other pigments present as well, depending on the type of plant you are looking at. These pigments can include carotenoids (orange) and xanthophylls (yellow) which may not be detectable with the naked eye. Typically, botanist interested in pigment content of leaves will use fancy equipment to analyze the chemicals, namely something that can read spectral data (spectroscopy-looking at different colors in a spectrum or rainbow if you will). Remember that the pigment or color you see is the color that is being reflected and all other colors are being absorbed to some extent. There are even different types of chlorophylls (a and b) which absorb different wavelengths of light and "taking in" light is of course an essential part of photosynthesis.
If you don't' have fancy equipment, I would say the best thing to assume is that if your leaf is green, it has chlorophyll in it. If you have a microscope handy, you can actually look at leaf cells under a microscope (at high magnification) and look for chloroplasts (green grains) which contain chlorophyll in them.
Question about photosynthesis?well if ur leaf is green there is chlorophyll becuz its a green pigment
Question about photosynthesis? It will be green.
Question about photosynthesis?hmm interesting
Question about photosynthesis?I would think that since chlorophyll is what makes all plants green, if there is green color in your sample then it would have to be the result of the chlorophyll being present.
Question about photosynthesis?Chlorophyll is green, if its not green then it is not chlorophyll.
