i would like to know if food dye ,like the kind at a store, is a pigment.

molecule. Pigments are inorganics such as Titanium dioxide,

iron oxide, cadmium oxide. Pigments are typically used in products requiring u.v. light stability such as plastics. Organic

food dyes are large organic compounds that are non-toxic.
