why is it beneficial to have several different plant pigments involved in photosynthesis?

The pigments specialize in absorbing certain wawvelengths of light (chloryphyll absorbs reds and blues, and reflects greens, and then some other pigment, I forget the name, absorbs some green and a lot of blue and reflects red, the pigment we see in the fall when leaves stop producing chloryphyll)
